HOW to start with Your QA Work

Many of us work with great enthusiasm in the food industry. The food industry is one of the industries where there are plenty of challenges. In my experience, many QA and QC employees love a challenge. As a result, this work certainly keeps the variety going.

The ‘disadvantage’ of QA and QC work is that there is so much work lying around that you often have little time to pick up tasks such as, for example, improving your CAPA system, improving your HACCP analysis, improving your Allergen Management system, etc.

In addition, it is also difficult to get started with this work. Where are you going to start? How are you going to begin with the first step? What steps need to be taken to make improvements? How will you ensure that your colleagues will embrace your improvements, etc.

A Small Example HOW to Start

Your customers occasionally complain about foreign objects in their products. How will you start with your analysis? Your analysis shows that you have regularly received complaints about very small metal particles in the end product. Your data shows that the metal particles are in a variety of different end products and that the products are produced over different lines. In addition, there is a variation of raw materials in your end products, so again, you don’t have an unequivocal cause that you can pinpoint. Your customers expect you to have a quick answer for them and to make improvements.

These are preventive measures that are often taken quickly. You notice that some customers keep coming back with requests for more substantiation and the result can be that your customers leave from dissatisfaction. Actually you would like to take a close look at this whole process. However, where do you get the time? How are you going to start? What information do you actually need to improve this process? Where are you going to get the information you need? Which colleagues should you involve in this? How are you going to get everyone on board with this process? And probably you can think of many more questions to which you want an answer before you can even start this improvement process. And you know, you’re not the only one running into this. We all face the same high-level challenges.

Okay, I like to keep it pragmatic and lean. Do you too? Have you found a way for yourself to pick up improvements quickly and make progress?
If you are looking for this, then perhaps the QFS Mastery Program is something for you.
